Wurzeralm

A resort that is great for training

Wurzeralm is a smaller neighbour of Hinterstoder in the Pyhrn-Priel region. It has 22 km of pistes, you can ski from around 810 to 1 870 m and the whole area feels compact and easy to navigate.

That is exactly the combination we often look for at a children’s training camp.

Loko view: the less time children spend moving around the resort, the more time is left for actual skiing.

Terrain character

Wurzeralm has runs of varying difficulty and several sections that can be used for technical runs and gates. The resort also has Sunny Kids Park and easier zones for younger skiers. In one location, we can work with several age groups at once.

The current resort profile lists seven lifts and cable cars including the funicular, chairlifts and drag lifts.

What we can train here

• basic technique,
• short and medium turns,
• slalom,
• giant slalom,
• skiing on different slopes,
• lots of repetition on the same section,
• independence for younger skiers.

Why children's groups suit this place

Clear visibility is a big advantage with children. The coach can see the group, moves are shorter, and breaks and program changes are easier to organize.

A smaller resort also naturally reduces the temptation to

chase kilometers.

When we have a good slope, we can ski it repeatedly and focus on one specific thing.

Wurzeralm and Hinterstoder

Both resorts belong to the same Upper Austrian region. But their character is different. Hinterstoder is bigger and more sporty, while Wurzeralm feels calmer and more compact.

For the club, it is good to have both types of hill in the repertoire. Not every training session needs a World Cup slope.
